Google Paranoid about Potentially Harmful Sites

Google got paranoid about harmful sites. Currently all search results returned by google contain a malware warning. I don´t know if google got hacked or if they have a self induced problem with malware detection. At least we know now what Google thinks about the Internet: “It´s all Malware” ;.). Nice comments are popping up everywhere on the Internet. I like this one:

Skynet – er, Google – has become self-aware and has deemed that the entire Internet is harmful to us power sour – I mean, humans, and is protecting us for some reason it has not divulged yet…

Update 1: It seems the syndrome has been discovered – googles outsourced malware partner, stopbadware.org, has gone down.

Update 2: stopbadware claims to be innocent! see: StopBadWare Blog

Update 3: Official Statement form Google – Essentialy they blacklisted “/”

Crazy Blog Real-Time Statistics Widget

Just found a crazy real-time statistics widget from FEEDJIT. Right now (September 2008) you can see it in action on this site just below the about box on the right side of this page. It is not very attractive visually, but check out what it realy does.  Impressive, but little bit creepy – don´t you think? I don´t know how long the FEEDJIT widget will remain on this site. Maybe as long as some visitors of Api-Madness complain about feeling paranoid when they see this widget ;.)

UPDATE: I removed this script from start page as it slowed down pageloading too much. You can still find it on Widget Garbage Dump

Why the Ping Loop Did Not Crash Wordpress

SIERRA MADRE, CA - MAY 29: Seventieth anniver...Some days ago I did the Ping Loop Test and I luckily had only 4 duplicate posts to clean up. Now the question is, why did the loop stop. To answer this i didn´t have to go into analyzing logfiles and plugin behavior.

Ping.FM has rate limits of 3 messages per rolling minute to prevent spam. This absolutly makes sense for a message distribution service like them. And it does not just prevent spam but it also prevents fast loops that could crash a service.
