Social Network Account Collectors and Message Distributors
Aug 24, 2008 Evolution of Madness
While setting up all those social networking accounts (just added Pownce) I realized that there a 2 kinds of Social Inter-network Services: I call them Account Collectors and Message Distributors.
Account Collectors
allow you to aggregate or collect all other social networking accounts and have one place to see everything that’s going on in your networks. A good example for this is MyBlogLog.
Message Distributors
we could also call them Crossposters, allow you to send out your message in one central place and publish them to all the other accounts you have with different networks. A good example for a Message Distributor would be Ping.fm. For now it seems that “Account Collectors” are more widely available than “Message Distributors”.
I will go into further elaboration on this, as the Network API-Madness grows.
