While working on a new project, I had to do some research about Social Networking Services and their APIs. It is incredible whats going on out there. Every new web service has an API – syndicates stuff from other sites – pushes messages to other services ….
Welcome to API Wars. Its nearly impossible to grasp, what all this will lead to. I ask myself if it will create unforeseen loops & chain reactions by interconnecting all those services and than injecting messages & post into it.
As Alex King says in his FAQ of his Wordpress Plugin:
What happens if I have both my tweets posting to my blog as posts and my posts sent to Twitter? Will it cause the world to end in a spinning fireball of death?
